I wouldn't be a musician if not for my grandmother buying me "Killers" by Iron Maiden on cassette in a local newsagents when I was six years old. This single act led to me discovering a love for guitar which opened my eyes to music as a whole.
My favorite music from childhood is Iron Maiden, Guns N' Roses, Blur, Manic Street Preachers, The Fugees, Snoop Doggy Dogg, The Prodigy, Tears For Fears, Fusion and Dreamscape tape packs.
My favorite music from last months is "Reasonable Drought" by Stove God Cooks, Initial Talk, "Pray for Paris" by Westside Gunn, "Enter the Mirror" by Maserati, "Omens" by Elder and "Afterburner" by Dance Gavin Dance.
My favorite artists not related to music are Toby Curtis, Kev Munday, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Jeremy Scott Miller.
In modern music I like being surprised. Often you grow up militantly liking one thing, now things are more open and I'm finding myself listening to a much wider array of music and enjoying things I would have never even tried.
In modern music I dislike overcompression and reduced dynamics. There's a real tendency to just make everything loud which can really compromise the delicacy of certain instruments and phrases.
What I like the most about live shows is... As a performer - the nervous energy created by the unstable duality of being powerless and powerful at the same time. As a participant - feeding off of the energy of others and feeling a part of something
My music has been compared to Carpenter Brut, John Carpenter, Gary Numan and S U R V I V E.
If I could make one of other artists songs mine it would be... This is tough... There's so many. I guess overall it would have to be Chromeo. They’re just effortlessly cool with a seriously enviable synth list.
Poland reminds me of a long lost cousin. I haven't visited since my bachelor party ten years ago and covid ruined my planned visit in May.
